Backcountry Experience (3 days, 2 nights)

Hike into experiential learning! Bring your own outdoor gear, or rent our high-quality camping equipment. Equipping participants with wilderness skills needed for wilderness exploration, this program offers it all! Engage with the wild back-country through challenging hikes, natural history activities, and extensive exploration of forests, fresh water and marine ecosystems. Our skilled staff will guide you through interactive lessons on orienteering, compass making, tarp and food cache set up, wilderness safety and rope making and knot tying. Pair this with a lot of fun – games, cooking over camp stoves, sleeping in tents and exploring the shore by moonlight – and you have our Back Country Experience program! Sunny Galiano Island is the perfect place to try out your group’s hiking and camping skills!

Where: Millard Learning Centre on Galiano Island

When: This program is available at your convenience. 

Cost: $149/participant

Where do we meet? We will meet you at the Galiano Ferry Terminal—all you need to do is get there. 

Special equipment or clothing?  Dress for variable Gulf Islands weather: warm sweaters, sturdy footwear, and sunscreen. 

Food and water: Bring your own lunches and drinking water.
