Learning Centre: August 2015

Programming and planning continues steadily at the Learning Centre

The past month has seen several programs actively using the Learning Centre land and facilities, including a very successful third installment of a UVic Environment Studies Restoration field course in early July, and the second annual Gailano Kids Campout, which doubled its registration from last year’s pilot. The campground is proving a perfect home for the tents and hammocks of program participants of many ages, now supported by a kitchen and classroom building.

Planning continues as well, in particular for the food forest project and for our design plans for the property as a whole. There are many possibilities and careful planning is important moving forward. The food forest workshop will take place in October 2015, and will be an opportunity to gain a wealth of information from experts in the field and to learn hands-on at the Learning Centre.
