Hello workshop participants,
We are excited to have you at the Millard Learning Centre for the Harvest and Herbal Workshop on Galiano Island. We are looking forward to meeting you all and having a great weekend together learning about, tasting, harvesting and preparing plants. Below are instructions of what to bring, how to get there and other logistics. Please read through to the end as there is lots of important info that will help you have a great workshop experience. Under the “what to bring” section you will see gloves, snips/clippers and a harvesting basket. If you don’t have one or all of these items please send an email to Emily (emily.francis@galianoconservancy.ca) and we will provide them for you. If you have any questions please contact Emily — she is happy to help.
If you registered for someone else we don’t have their email so please pass this onto them. Thank you.
What to bring:
- warm layers (including hat, warm gloves etc. just in case 🙂
- rain gear

Start and end times/Other logistics:
For participants arriving on Friday: If you are arriving on Friday and staying at the Learning Centre overnight I will meet you at the centre and do a brief orientation that evening (other participants will get one the next morning). If that is you please be in touch with me (emily.francis@galianoconservancy.ca) so that we can arrange a time to meet on Friday. If you are staying overnight you will need to bring all of your own gear (bedding, tent etc…)
Do you need camping gear? Please book it here and we will have it ready for you.
Saturday: We will begin at 9 am at the Learning Centre building and go until 5pm. If you can please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early so that you can get settled and we can begin on time. You are responsible for all of your own meals on Saturday so please bring a lunch.
Sunday: We will begin at 9 am and go until 3:45pm this day so that people from off island can get to the ferry. If you don’t have to leave for the ferry you are welcome to stay a bit later to ask any questions etc. Cedana and I will both be available for a while after the workshop for this. We will be making lunch from the food forest this day so you don’t have to bring your own.
Participants staying at the learning centre will have access to the building/kitchen after class hours and need to make sure it is clean for class. If you are participating in the workshop you are welcome to stay and socialize with other participants after class.
Directions – Getting to the Millard Learning Centre:
Address – 10825 Porlier Pass Road Galiano Island, BC
Google maps: search for Millard Learning Centre.
If you are coming from the ferries you will head up island and turn right on Porlier Pass Rd (just past the Hummingbird Pub) about a 5 minute drive from the ferries. Stay on Porlier Pass Rd and when you pass McClure Rd the learning centre will be coming up on your left. There is a carved wooden sign that says Millard Learning Centre so keep an eye out for that. The drive from the ferries is about 15-20 minutes.
Once you get there you will enter a parking lot and can park there and walk down to the Learning Centre (about a five minute walk). The road splits in two after the parking lot. Stay left to get to the learning centre building.
Please contact Emily if you have any other questions about how to get there.
We look forward to meeting you soon.
Sincerely,
Adam & Cedana
