New Trail Signs up at the Millard Learning Centre

Have you been down to hike the trails at the Millard Learning Centre recently?  If so, then you’ve probably noticed the new signs we’ve installed. Gone are the days of wondering which fork to take, or worrying that your directionally-challenged friends or family might not make it home!  Now you can consult our master trail map at the entrance kiosk to plan your route, and you can count on some helpful trail arrows to guide you when you’re out on the trails.  No matter where you are on the property, you’ll be able to find your way around.  The entrance kiosk is also a great place to set out on a hike throughout the Mid-Island Protected Areas Network.

188 acres with trails almost everywhere – now all trail users can rest assured that they can find their way and know exactly where they are – and how to get to their favourite spots.

The next time you visit, make sure to check out the Nuts’a’maat Forage Forest (where is it, you ask?  just consult our new trail maps).  The Forage Forest is an ecocultural restoration project that reimagines the relationships we can have with damaged ecologies and with one another as we work together on the land.  You can volunteer to help out with the project the second Saturday of every month from 2-4pm, but if you’re visiting at other times, you can learn all about the project from the new signage we’ve posted at the entrance gate, including the site history, a trail map, and a list of edible species with both common and Hul’qumi’num names.

With the improved signage and our new EV chargers, the Millard Learning Centre is more inviting and exciting to visit than ever!  Thanks to the Van Tel / Safeway Credit Union Legacy Fund for providing support for this sign project.
