Experience the healing power of the forest and explore the world of native plants through touch, smell and taste. Learn how to ethically harvest wild food and medicine plants yourself and make herbal remedies to take home. GRADES K-12
Watch raptors soar, and soak up breathtaking views of the Trincomali Channel from Galiano’s tallest peak. Mount Galiano is home to a Garry Oak ecosystem; an ecosystem found nowhere else in Canada besides BC’s south coast. GRADES 4-12
Learn about renewable energy technology, your own sustainable energy consumption habits, and how energy relates to ecosystem health and climate change. This STEM-focused program will get participants’ brains ticking! GRADES 3-12
Designed for the undecided, the “Build Your Own Overnight Adventure” let’s you mix and match different single day programs and includes overnight accommodations at the Millard Learning Centre. GRADES K-12
We strive to give everyone equal opportunity to learn and play in nature. The GCA Environmental Education Bursary Fund helps to reduce program, bus and camping-related costs for K-12 school groups, youth organizations and youth participants in need of financial aid.
Extend your educational experience on Galiano Island. Choose from deluxe Frontcountry campground or rustic Backcountry campground both located at our private and quiet 188-acre Millard Learning Centre property. Plus, rent our camping gear if you don’t have any.
Trip leaders for K-12 field trips and post-secondary programs will be asked if they would like to book the GCA bus during their booking process. Bus service fees will be added to their invoice accordingly.
Please note that adult workshop participants are responsible for their own transportation.
